Founding Vision
While working for the US Army Corps of Engineers on the Snake and Columbia River system in Washington State, David Phillips sought to innovate a solution to destructive water temperature. Recognizing the impact of sunlight overexposure, he envisioned that suspended ecosystems could provide the necessary shade and habitat to stabilize the river environment. This led to the development of vertically suspended gardens with recirculating irrigation systems, designed to maximize primary production in various settings—indoors and outdoors, homes, businesses, and agriculture.
